I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, licensed Professional Counselor in Connecticut and a member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. I am here for you. I am here to meet you where you are in this moment. I treat most conditions, but specialize in trauma. I will provide a safe and nurturing environment and I will listen to you with compassion as you tell your story.  In a collaborative effort we will out- line the goals and objectives for your treatment. These goals provide benchmarks for growth. I am here to help you facilitate the change you desire in order to heal, to reach your greatest potential and/or self-actualization. Establishing trust and building a therapeutic alliance is the cornerstone of my practice.

TRAINING

I received my Masters in Counseling from the University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, Connecticut. Trained in all Theoretical Orientations,  I am person centered and a transpersonal counselor who uses eclectic techniques and treatments to best fit the situation and client. I take a phenomenological stance on treatment. In other words, despite a diagnosis based on symptoms and other patterns  established from scientific methods I adhere to the idea that we are individuals with unique experiences and those experiences are incorporated into  tailoring my approach to working with clients cooperatively to determine treatment plans and goals.

My services include but are not limited to:

Individual counseling and group counseling for most mental health disorders and psychological concerns, as well as counseling in marriage/partnerships, family, career, academic, acculturation, transition, inter- personal relationships, consensus building, grief, crisis management, trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, substance abuse with and without co-occurring  disorders, employer/employee dynamics, and other life issues.

My experience includes presenting psycho-education workshops for mental health disorders such as Anxiety, Career counseling, Substance abuse, and Post Traumatic Stress.  I administer and interpret depression, anxiety, quality of life, personality, academic and occupational assessment instruments. Perform evaluations, assessment, diagnosis, psycho-education as well as therapeutic techniques. Develop individualized goal oriented treatment utilizing evidenced based solution focused and brief plans. Provide Crisis Management and Risk Assessment. Coordinate outreach and provide advocacy; Possess experience working in a collaborative effort with diverse populations in education, government agencies, contractors, corporations and private citizens within all walks of life. I am trained and have experience  in multi-cultural counseling and cultural sensitivity in the workplace.
