Darryl Russ, LPC, CPCS

Licensed Professional Counselor Atlanta, GA

I am a client-centered, cognitive clinician. That means that I explore the unique interrelationships between mind, body, and spirit and how they function together as integrated components of our ability to heal, grow, and thrive in our world. My desire is for each client to realize and fully appreciate that they are not alone. There are many others globally who travel similar paths to healing and recovery. Healthy change is possible when the focus is on resiliency rather than pathology. I am able to counsel a wide variety of psychological and relational concerns and I have a profound appreciation for the effects of traumatic experiences on our ability to reach life goals and experience true fulfillment and joy.

How do we begin?

When beginning therapy it is important that you and I both feel that working together would be a beneficial for you. Usually this entails meeting several times to discuss your particular concerns and to begin to get an idea of how we might work together. It is important that you feel comfortable enough to talk about things and that you feel the potential for challenge or growth through our interactions. The first session usually involves discussing goals and expectations for treatment and a plan to address challenges.

Many clients feel encouraged and comfortable from the start and are ready to begin. Some clients interview several therapists in order to find the best fit. The most important consideration is to find a place that you feel understood and that the therapist has something of value to offer. If it becomes evident that working together would not be the best for you, I will be happy to suggest other highly competent therapists. Every therapy session is unique and depends on the particular situation facing the client and their goals. We will arrange a schedule of regular appointments. It is most common to meet once a week for one 50-minute session. It would be my honor to join you on this journey to wholeness!
